Conference 2022

We would like to invite you to participate in the sixth „Circular economy – rational use of raw materials” conference. The event will take place on 28-30 November 2022 in a hybrid form – online as well as at the Mercure Racławice Dosłońce Conference & SPA Hotel.

This is already the sixth meeting on the subject of the circular economy (CE) organized by the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences – the Division of Strategic Research.

The conference is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the „Excellent Science” program.

We are also happy to announce that the 6th conference „Circular economy – rational management of resources” received the honorary patronage of the Minister of Climate and Environment and Ministry of Development and Technology.

The event will start with a special session as part of the 8th edition of the conference „Innovative ideas of young scientists: Science – Startup – Industry”, which will be held on November 28, 2022 in Krakow at the AGH Club Studio ul. Budryka 4 and on-line from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The next part of the session will be held at the Mercure Racławice Dosłońce Conference & SPA Hotel.

The aim of the conference is to exchange knowledge and experience and to present activities supporting and promoting solutions in line with the concept of a circular economy, as well as to discuss the importance of mineral resources in the economy of Poland and the EU, in particular their demand for the development of renewable energy sources, security of supply of critical raw materials and energy, and the possibility of using secondary raw materials (e.g. from WEEE or from industrial waste heaps and bio-waste).

The exchange of experiences in the context of the developed and updated documents taking into account the implementation of solutions compatible with the circular economy is necessary not only due to the new regulations in the field of environmental protection but also due to the increase in competitiveness and the need to meet the consumer expectations.

The subject of an extensive discussion should be the promotion of economically profitable and environmentally friendly (win-win) business models of the circular economy, the inclusion of the results in the organizations’ reports (CSR, ESG, GRI), and discussion on CE indicators, including the carbon footprint (CF ), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Footprint (PEF) and the role of the digital product passport, especially for raw materials and energy companies. The proposed solutions are presented in the assumptions of the European Green Deal, industrial policy in Poland, the Productivity Strategy, the National Reconstruction Plan, and new financial programs for 2021-2027 e.g. European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment (FENIKS) or European Funds for Modern Economy (FENG).

Studies and analyses carried out indicate that in Poland there is still a low level of knowledge (competence gap) as well as awareness of market participants in terms of initiating, implementing, and creating new CE business models. Therefore, promotional and educational activities, as well as appropriate legal regulations stimulating the development and implementation of CE, are necessary.

We invite you to register for the event.
